Recruiting Adjudication (QUIZ for RP Bonus!)
Posted by Allan Sellers on Wednesday, May. 11th, 2022 at 11:04 PM

I occasionally have received questions on this so hoping to answer them with an example (text) and a video).  Please record your poll vote for bonus RPs and let me know at the end if this makes sense or if you have additional questions...

To be clear, the lawyers in TMVL are making me use big words like "adjudication" in this post...

See the video here and/or try the recruiting scenario below:  https://youtu.be/EkvX76GN_Ls

Recruiting Scenario

My team starts the session with 425 RPs

My recruiting orders have me doing this:

- Spend 425 to get a commit (Step 3)

- Spend 25 to schedule a visit in Step 2

- Spend 50 to show interest in two players in Step 1

The starting 425 is what is used in Step 3.  I cannot exceed that in step 3.  Let's say I make a mistake and put in 430.  The program will only let me bid what I have to start that session, so it drops it to 425.

But hey, I got the player (no one else bid) for the min cost of 425 RPs.

Now what happens with the Step 1 and 2 players I also selected for interest/campus visit?

The program lets you "temporarily" go into negative RPs there until it gives you 140 RP for end of session processing (you can get up to 180 RP per session if you get the up to 40 RP Media Bonus).

In this case I did no media bonus so my team's RP total should be like this:

425 - 425 = 0

0 -75 = -75

-75 + 140 = 65 RPs

I would start the next session with 65 RPs.

I was looking for "We're the government in this league and can just print more RPs as needed." Maybe I should re-read the post...

We sure do seem to have a lot of lawyers in this league...

Is it better to bid for one player each auction or miss 2 or 3 to save RP's?

You can only get 4 from these auctions and there is also a free 3* at the end if the season so 3 is enough for many.

And you might not even need 4 decent players depending on which seniors are retiring.

So I'd see who else is interested and maybe not waste RP.

Steve Turner on Friday, May. 13th, 2022 at 8:12 PM

Andy: Great Questions!  I think bidding on 1 or 2 (2 is you have middle-high RPs) players each session is the right way to go.  There are instances where you'll want to do something different (like maybe you have a lot of RPs or you need to be aggressive for  given session) too.

This approach helps you build up some RPs so when you get to the commit phase (step 3) for that player you haven't spent too much with other step 1/step 2 players and have enough left.

This does take a little getting use to though.

It may also be beneficial to see "how many teams and how many RPs do they have" are recruiting a player.  That might help you see that you either have a good chance (fewer teams with low RPs) or maybe wasting the Step 1/Step 2 RPs (many teams with high RPs).

So sort of scout the competition a little as you use your RPs each session.

You have 1 recruit already, that's a great start. Maybe try the 1 player per step approach to catch up a little and bank more RPs for when they get to Step 3.

Where's my RP bonus?
