The WGM Cup groups are now live. Which group looks to be the toughest?
Now, you'll say, "well Al, all 32 teams advance to the knockout round...why do I care?".
Great question! See the NOTES below the image on how winning and tiebreakers are handled. Knockout matches all have a home court advantage.
The tougher the group, the harder it is to go 3-0 and get a coveted top 8 seed. Maybe you finish 3rd in a tough group and now you are seeded 24th in the knockout rounds. That's a lot of away matches to win to get to the final.

NOTES
- After group play all teams advance to the Round of 32 which is a bracketed knockout format for the rest of the Cup.
- During knockout rounds the team with the higher seed (based on group play) gets the home court advantage.
- Group winners get a Top 8 seed in the Round of 32
- Remaining 24 teams are seeded based on match record, set pct, and point pct (in that order).
- All tiebreakers for seeding are in this order:
- Matches
- Set Pct
- Point Pct

My logo seems to have changed to some kind of ninja. Is that a clue as to the real Group of Death?
With Carlsbad's end to last season and squad ratings they make this the strongest group with three top teams. If I was the coach of Pekin I'd probably forget the WGM groups.
Group A is also tough.

My test/dev server where I pulled that from Roger does have some original logos there, so that's the oddity.

Not a difficult choice. E is the only group in which all four mascots could cause you an easy death. Thank god sahuaros aren't actually sentinent and mobile...
So this is Roger's welcome gift to TMVL? My condolences, Roger. But also, Group F will be tough, too.
Group F will be the group of death only in the understanding that the other three teams will be laying down and playing dead at the feet of the almighty Bulldogs, begging for 2nd place scraps as he might take pity on them and let someone win a set.
Group G definitely gets consideration, with the defending National Champs & TMVL Champs & Big 12 Tourney Champion in Columbia. Right behind on the power rankings (4th in T7 currently) is Rob & Antioch. Semi-finalist in almost everything San Jose rounds out the top 3.
Even with the top-heavy firepower in Group G, my nod is to Group B. 2nd-T7-ranked Carlsbad (defending Holyoke & Shield champs), headlines with SEC champs & national runner-up Baton Rouge breathing down their necks. The Big East Champs & YOUR DEFENDING WGM Cup Champion Squirrels are also clearly a force to be reckoned with in this competition. TMVL Cup Runners-Up Pekin are no slouch, though Roger will surely be put through the grinder here in the opening sessions. With all four teams having appeared in a final and three teams winning multiple trophies, the rest of us should be grateful that Olmec saw fit to sacrifice the Peas, and not us.
Kevin Martin has officially been recruited by the cad that is Mr Kiss of Death himself, Al Sellers.
If Al isn't 'bigging us up', 'T7 v DAL' etc then Kevin will.

A and B look tough with 3 "big hitters" each but I'm going with G as I think all 4 could took a top 2 place

Got to be Group A - 8th, 10th, 14th and 17th in Top 7 rankings. No easier games for anyone. 71.9 to 75.6. Oh and I am in that one!
I went with G. Antioch and Columbus together means a brutal time. Don't count SanJose and Alton out, but they will have an uphill climb.
