I'll quit TMVL, probably for good, but you'll never know.
As for the reasons:
Obviously Starkville's last season was moderately entertaining, up to its final moments (with few notable exceptions). So I'm taking Olmec's hints.
I've liked most of TVML: community, mechanics, design - almost all but a certain elephant who stepped on SB's toes once too much.
SB are - after almost 4 seasons - nowhere near a level I'd be content with.
And I plead guilty that much of the fun I get at games comes from playing competitvely, or at least getting there systematically.
But I am at a loss what to do significantly better, other than praying to a stone head for better rolls.
Maybe another manager will turn Starkville into what I failed to achieve.

PS: Starkville is up for grabs for anyone interested - and they are slightly improved from where I started.

Will be sorry to see you go Eduard, I think you were definitely turning the ship around. Unfortunately it does take a long time in TMVL (Pekin had the second worst T7 back in Season 7 or 8) - although given how quickly the seasons play out in real time I don't think it's that long.
Looking at your roster, I think you might only have a middling season this time around but you (or whoever takes over) is going to be very well set for Season 14.
The stats backed up the bad results - so many 50/50s went against Starkville.
I thought they were going to be competing for the SEC title last season.

I thought I'd look at Starkville's recruiting dice rolls since season 9 when Eduard took over (not counting 1* player) and it is very average with only a couple of decent throws on 3* players like his 3* free Libero with 8 SRV and 9 at RCV and DEF. A 4* OH did well with 11s at ATK and BLK but Setters never get a top roll.
I've seen worse.
It will be a pity to see you go, Eduard, I think you're an asset to the games you play in.

I agree with you Rob. Eduard leaving TMVL is probably bad news for those of us (most of us?) who have to play him in United.

The "elephant" are - as correctly suspected by Steve - the recruiting rolls.
They are IMHO way too important - and cannot be controlled or managed at all.
Basically rolling a junk 5* S means 3 more seasons of mediocrity at best - and you're just stuck with it since you simply can't get another T7 S given the economical constraints.
But anyway:
As mentioned by Al, I've still "auto piloted" SB this season.
And since he has not found a new manager, I'll play them at least till this season's end.
Thus: goodbye from goodbye for now.
Good that you're still on board Eduard - explains why Starkville are having such a good season.
I can definitely understand your recruiting frustration. I've brought in five Setters in my time in the game. Three rolled the worst possible Set, I got a decent roll for my 1* makeweight (you can't say Olmec doesn't have a sense of humour), and the last was a max +1. That said, I feel like Pekin are still doing ok - even this year with a 3* Setter who can't set....
The recruitment outcomes can be a bit frustrating, but at least we are all in the same boat. In real life I guess you might never know how good a player is until you get him in your team. Quite a few football managers have recuited a few dud in their time!
