BRB Assignment
Posted by Brian Beerman on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 2010 at 12:04 PM

Does anyone else see the following error on their transactions page under the BRB section:

Cannot reassign players to backroom boy role after Session 10 Deadline Has Passed!

Session 9 has not yet happened.  Am I missing something in the rules, or is this a glitch in the matrix?  I am still hoping to convert a couple of players to BRB after session 9 and before session 10.

Thanks.

Readers Comments

I suspect that this is a glitch in the code, which has worked out that the transfer deadline has passed but which obviously shouldn't be applying this for BRB conversions.

ï»I saw this last night and tried to post but the laptop crashed, i thought I'd mis-interpreted the rules (again) as we've had 10 separate sessions of games but only 8 sessions of league action. The front page showing the pre/post-match reports clearly states Session 9 coming

ï»I'm really hoping it's just a glitch as i have an Age V SL2 forward i need to convert!

Roy Rolsten on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 2010 at 7:25 PM

Same here, I have an age V and age VI I'd like to convert before session 10.  I will put my faith in Olmec, or Al if Olmec is out of the office.

Brian Beerman on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 2010 at 8:26 PM

Brian,

Why would you want to do that? If you convert an Age V/VI to a BB now, they will be an Age I BB for 2 sessions and then age to become an Age II BB - effectively losing a whole season from the BB. I think it would be far more cost-effective to make sure that the Age V player is at least SL 8 so he survives aging and then convert him to a BB after post-season aging.

Rob Peterson on Tuesday, Feb. 2nd, 2010 at 11:46 PM

I considered that alternative, Rob, but decided many sessions ago that I would rather take the CP they get me and not spend more on them, even though it means only one season (more or less) as a coach.

Brian Beerman on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2010 at 12:20 AM

If the age V or VI player can't survive aging even if they get +2 SL in sessions 9 & 10, then converting now still gives a season of use as a BRB or simple trade fodder (100k for a one-season rental anyone?) going into next year.

Kevin Martin on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2010 at 2:28 AM

The transactions page has now got a new error! it looks like either Al or the system has done something as i now have next seasons Youths available to sign, I can't sell players as I need 18+ in my team (I have 26) and the BRB now says no V+ players in squad - which I have.

Roy Rolsten on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2010 at 2:49 PM

If any of you are having problems or spot something you don't think is right, make sure you're also sending a detailed message to Al through the site or an e-mail through the regular channels.  He won't necessarily be checking the forum posts regularly to see what problems may arise.

Kevin Martin on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, 2010 at 5:31 PM

In the words of one of the Bob's from Office Space...I "fixed the glitch...Milton won't be getting a paycheck anymore"...

In summary, you should be able to complete your BRB conversions "pre-aging" until the session 10 deadline passes.  :-)

lol, cheers Al

ï»I can breath a sigh of relief now

Roy Rolsten on Thursday, Feb. 4th, 2010 at 4:37 PM

Al stole my stapler.

John Holden on Wednesday, Feb. 10th, 2010 at 8:51 AM

Was it a red swingline?

Rob Peterson on Wednesday, Feb. 10th, 2010 at 8:16 PM

:-)  Mrs. Sellers bought me a red swingline stapler...
