Premier League Title Predictions
Posted by Vick Hall on Sunday, May. 19th, 2024 at 3:41 PM

Thought it was about time I revisited our Big Bad Premier League Title Predictions for Season 48

1) PLYMOUTH

As you can see from the photo it has been a while since Plymouth last won the title but with a T7 of 12.27 that have to be this seasons favorites. They don´t have much cash left, but they don´t need any as he squad is strong right across the pitch with no weak areas. They also have the flexibility to mix it up a bit and keep their line up unpredictable. Offside trap/midfield dom or powerhouse attack. Lots of options here. Finlay Palmer in goal will need to have a good season and improve on his low shot stopper rating which languishes in the low 70´s. Hopefully he will not let the team and their fans down.

2) BRISTOL

With a T7 of 11.73 and cash in the bank I quite fancy Bristol to have a good year. Like Plymouth they have a big squad with no weak areas although a back up Sw to cover for Gregory would be a bonus. They also have one of the top flights three Spanish Golden Glove keepers in Flores with a save percentage of 82.3% in last seasons campaign. They won´t be off the pace in the title race unless they get distracted by cup involvements.

3) QPR

Al is right you should be scared of this team with a T7 of 11.91 and a cash mountain that makes you wonder if MSWL should introduce some form of financial fair play. Could easily go all the way. They have a very strong sqquad and are defensively sound. In Ji-An Sang chul they have a young world class sweeper who can only get better and a potentially good keeper in Barmby. I say potentially as he does have a poor low 70´s save %.

4) BRENTFORD

The Bees maybe be small in number and not a large squad to swarm, but they are also a decent squad (T11 of 11.62) with no weaknesses and cash available to improve upon it. Captain Roger Issahaku may have a gammy knee, but is remarkably fully fit already and primed  to lead thee Bees blistering attack. They have never won the league and maybe this could be their year.

5) LEWES

By far the strongest looking member of the Unholy Trinity and although they only have a T11 of 11.36 you can never underestimate Manager Dohm to pull off another title win. They only have 13 and I doubt they will stick on that unlucky number for long. They have a formidable attack led by Captain Stevenson and one of the Premier Leagues super trio of Spanish keepers in Cruz between the sticks.

6) WESTON SUPER MARE

The team have a hot shot attack, but it will be a tricky ask to fit them all in the same lineup. Captain Nii Mingle leads from the front and its safe to say the powerhouse will not be left out of the important games. Defensively the team could be stretched, but in Carroll the team do at least have a keeper who punches above his weight with a save % of 85.9%. With an app GK being brought through though it´s not likely Weston can challenge for their first title, especially after being promoted (even though the T11 is 12.18). No cash to spend, so they will have to make do with what they have.

7) SOUTHEND

Could well do better than my prediction as they have a strong attack and the third top Spanish keeper in Alonso Gomez with a save % of 85.7%. Arguably the pick of the bunch. The T11 at 11.55 is good but no cash left to strengthen it and that will probably see them end mid table, but enough to avoid the drop zone.

8) PRESTON NORTH END

Yes I am predicting Manager Lindsey despite being a leading member of the Unholy Trinity is going down. The T11 at 11.18 is not good enough and they will only be saved if they get the cheque book out quick and start spending some of that cash mountain. The defence is overy reliant on Captain Vega and if he gets injured it could be game over. The attack is comprised of oldies and two inexperienced youngsters in Kozak and Luna. All they have going for them is the brilliance of Moroccan Smahi Regragui in goal who has a save % of 87.8%.. We hear he is applying for Spanish citizenship.

9) TRANMERE

Yes another of the Unholy Trinity look set to join Preston in relegation this year. The Fw line is inspiring, but for once I think they will come a cropper as they are totally reliant on their attack outscoring their opponents. The Pole Piechniczek is reliable in goal, but is not going to get much protection from a shabby defence. Alon is a master of plugging the gaps in his team by picking up second rate dross in the auctions. Not sure how he manages to get the best out of them year on year, but with only one space free on his roster and not so much money it looks as if the Tranmere party is finally over.

10) SWANSEA

Have a decent attack but are a defensive shambles and their best keeper is now an apprentice! With a T11 of 10.45 it does not look good and barring a miracle are going to be relegated.  At least they will be in good company.

Big expectatins being laid down on the Pilgrims. It's definietly going to be an uphill battle, but I guarantee we will give it all we've got!

Never count Tranmere out. Never.

Brian Beerman on Sunday, May. 19th, 2024 at 8:23 PM

I'm with Brian on this, Alon doesn't need a good T11 to win. Tranmere for the title, Swansea to go down. The other places are too close to call - it will all come down to who Olmec loves most (which is not good for Dave).

In D2, Lincoln to claim the title. Watford and Brighton for promotion. Derby, Oldham and Chesterfield for the drop.

D3, Sheffield in top spot, Dorchester and Cardiff to edge up alongside.

Roger Mendonça on Monday, May. 20th, 2024 at 2:57 PM

I wish I'd checked how Lincoln did in Session 1 before posting that prediction.....
