With the World Cup starting this weekend thought it might be nice to include a poll to see who you all think will win. Big favorites are of course USA, but some other teams have been improving and have some exciting players

Some of the US players are just top class. I´m just sad our upcoming road trip to the US this year will not coincide with a OL Reign game, but I will pop into Lumen Field when we pass through Seattle for a look

It's really difficult to pick any other squad. If not for the US, I would probably say Sweden or Germany.

Wanted to say Australia but I don't think they're even in terms of talent sadly.

Vick, when you pop into Lumen say HI to my Seahawks for me! Al loves the Seahawks too as he has fond memories of his Packers, cough, choking there :)

Just for a change, I thought I'd be contrary...

To be honest te US side do appear to be ´cough´ in a rebuilding stage with a glut of new players coming in to fill the gaps of key injured players like star striker Mallory Swanson and Captain Sauerbrunn, whilst other stalwarts like Rapinoe are coming to the end of their careers. ther are also a few questions over the fitness of key players Rose Lavelle and Julie Ertz. So I think it may not be a done deal this year. England could do well if they can get back to their euro winning heights, but as with the US they are also missing some key injured players. Spain my current homeland have a good chance of coming good at this World Cup. they have a strong Barcelona contingent in the likes of Bonmati, Paredes and Putellas. They could go all the way

Spain for me Jim. Top players back from injury. England might run them close but will miss Williamson and Mead. Both of whom live in the same town as me!

Well Spain got off to a good start against Costa Rica, although it´s intriguing to know what was going on with their dispute. Apparently the father of the coach id the head of the women´s dept at the Spanish FA, which does seem a bit nespotic and gives the coach a lot of protection, but you have to assume he is not as dodgy as the Zambian coach

I think England could definitely give the US a run for their money, but I don't know... even in a "rebuilding" phase (which I agree on, but I'll call it a "reloading" phase), I still think the US women are the best team out there.

I feel like I'm talking about Die Mannschaft: The US looked great, but, too many missed chances that will hurt if/when they meet a competitive squad. All in all I am sure they'll get to the final.

And then there were three. This is why I don't win the prediction league!

Not that the two things are linked, but I don't know what's going on with the German sides. The men's win in 2014 was delightful, then things have just fallen apart with no sign of improvement (I like Hansi and feel he should stay). :(

Love see Germany go out early?, only patriot is moi ?

Oh hang on, half of you on here are American ?? ?, good luck oh sorry not really go Sweden ??

dramatic stuff with those penalties....
as for the game itself the US side showed a lot of quality in their teamwork, pace, physicality and fitness, but ultimately were devoid of any creativity in opening up the defensive Swedes, who I don´t think will fare so well against Japan. I think we all were complacent in thinking the US were currently a very good side. At the moment England are playing really well. Could maybe go all the way. Wish I had put some money on them now!

This is a really entertaining World Cup, I was worried with expansion we'd see more blowouts early on like in 2019 but it's been great. Hoping for a Japan:Australia final

Only 5 voters in with a chance of being right. Steve was a Johnny come lately too on Spain!

I have a little money on one of the four remaining sides, but don´t want to give them the kiss of death by naming them. Sadly it is only a little bit of money though!

Well my team with the money on is now through to the final, but my heart still yearns for an England win......

You don´t want me to win 50 quid then? (as I don´t either i won´t hold it against you!)

Is it too late for me to change my prediction?

I thought it was a great tournament. I couldn't watch many matches as they were often 2am ot 5am here. But I did watch some like the final today (of course I only watch World Cups on the spanish channel since that was the only way I could get it back in 1986 here in the USA; and its a lot more fun).
I fully supported the England team last season and thought their home run to win Euro 2022 was fantastic and fun to watch from a distance.
This year my country went with a group of older and much younger players who seemed incompatible from the start. I think the roster selection was "unfortunate" (kind of like sometimes in this league right?).
Beyond that there were some great games, great goals, and a lot of drama. The concern about the "we have a lot of new teams so expect a lot of 10-0 scorelines" didn't happen (much).
Spain looked like the team that played with nothing to lose. Their goal was a fantastic play. England though too had a lot of chances but couldn't quite get a great shot.

It would have been quite historic for england to do the Euro/World cup double and they put in a great effor all round. I was happy enough to see Spain win though as I have seen a few of them play at Barcelona and Bonmati is an exceptional player. I think I might have a crush on her!

Unfortunately (in the end) got this right. Spain were much the better side in the final and deserved the win, but before the goal England had a chance or two.
I wonder how the Japanese team are feeling having thrashed Spain 4-0 (from 4 shots!).
