A quick examination of the situation would lead me to believe Hereford has the advantage.

Mr Bate cannot avoid relegation to second division; he can win both divisional matches but will still fall at least one point short of a seventh finish.  This means Hereford can throw everything (along with the kitchen sink) into the FA Cup finale.

Mr McIntosh on the other hand has difficult decisions ahead: play for the trophy and possibly fall short of promotion to D2; play to win both divisional matches in hopes of placing top three and moving (back) up to second division; or consider the possibility neither outcome might occur.

Hereford with nothing to lose versus Chesterfield with so many uncertainties.  The outcome seems all but written in stone.
