Here's a listing of the rules changes to keep in mind this season.
1) A Captain may not play out of position. There are some potential advantages to a Df Captain playing at Sw. To negate that scenario the captain may only play at the position they have on the roster (Df at Df, Mf at Mf, and Fw at Fw). Please bear this in mind when you determine who you wish to be your captain. You don't have to make the selection immediately. You can wait to see how the pre-season draft goes first before you make your selection.
2) The minimum number of Fws is reduced from 2 to 1. In addition, the Df Area Total may now be up to four times that of the team’s Fw Area.
3) A new BRB has been added: Youth Director. The first 4 SBYs discovered count as if they have already played 1 match (QNL = 1). This has been added to the transactions page and you may begin to use it.
4) Managers may no longer trade BRBs. This change is now in place on the transactions page.
On the horizon for Season 16 is...
The need to determine whether the Captain's SL bonus should be removed from their SL when calculating penalty kick chances. Currently the maximum chance of converting a PK is 95%. If we implement this idea then I also (at least I think so) need to "re-determine" who takes the PK. A captain might be Age III SL 14. Currently he'd be considered an SL 17 for the PK calculation. If we drop the 3 SLs (his age), then we need to re-determine the PK shooter, right? Thus that SL 15 or SL 16 player (if one exists) should take the shot. (nothing is as simple as you'd think)
So we need to talk more about this and explore if its a Captain SL type deduction or if dropping the max chance has a similar effect (its MUCH easier to just drop the max from 95% to 85% or 90%). Does the max % chance deduction have a similar effect?

1) Dreadful! This takes away a significant amount of [roster] flexibility. Why not just prevent the player from sweeping? Most people were going to assign a Fw as captain unless they choose Df as an intentional means of playing that player at Sw. It was already addressed as a non-enforceable rule. Now, just about everyone is going to choose Fw unless the team was built a certain way or aged in a manner where there is no viable option. I was probably choosing a Fw anyhow as I do not have many skilled players anywhere. Points I do see/acknowledge: (1) Can still assign a Df as captain. Maybe someone will do this. (2) Prevented Sw from becoming a captain.
2) Awesome! Just as intended.
3) Excellent! Although now I am short a BRB. Hopefully I can trade for one...
4) ??? I guess I cannot. I think I knew this was going to happen but I forgot if this was a value issue or something else.
The normal MAX SL player attainable should* be Age III SL 14 + (RSD = 3) + (FIT = 2) + (CAP = 3) = SL 22 within a game, Session 4 or later. Since an individual is a captain, I think he should be afforded those perks when appropriate. From memory, so there is 50/50 shot I am wrong, the FIT is removed from the PK shooting. I think dropping the max chance to where SL 22 is the max @ 95% makes sense. 22? I think the FIT should come into play for both PK shooter as well as the Gk as it indicates the player's [condition/]status at the time. If the player is feeling good he should then be afforded a better chance of making his shot. Also, if this changes the SL - the best SL player would be taking the shot (if this totally goes against what is done in real football/soccer then I understand not considering what I have typed here). Most likely, the captain will probably be taking the shot, unless injured*, which is whom I'd expect to take the shot.
*Injured captain - anyone on board with the captain regaining 2 FIT per session? Captain is severely injured to a -5 or -6. With a +2 FIT per session you can get him back into a game in 2 sessions (w/o coaching points). Fastest to get him to +2 FIT would be 3 sessions with CP used in 2 of the 3 (or 1 of 3 if -5).

I've had a rethink on the Captain Out of Position issue. Rather than restrict the Captain to their own position, they can play (with OOP penalty) anywhere among the Df, Mf, and Fw positions. They simply won't have the ability to play at Sw or Gk.
If you have already chosen your captain and want to make a change, just let me know and I will reset for you.
