Ok think this is the last proposal, in case you have had enough of the ideas!
Why
To provide a way to change tactics without the penalty of Out of Position players.
What does he do
Two (or one) players per match can play out of position, without penalty. Has no effect on players playing out of position as Sweeper.
Issues to consider.
A DF playing as FW would normally lose 4SL, maybe this coach should be limited just to saving 2SL for being OOP.
Advantages/Disadvantages
Allows greater choice and chance of being able to select the right tactics against an opposition, by moving players into different positions with no or reduced penalty. Could allow for different squad development. Ie do I need any actual MF any more?
Disadvantage that it makes it harder to guess opposition tactics!

I agree that making the benefit saving 2 SL resolves the issues of DFs playing FW and vice versa.
Interesting that you see this option reducing the need for MFs. I was thinking the complete opposite! A high level MF essentially becomes a UT player that can cover all outfield positions. For that reason, I think this option should be restricted to one player per match (and possibly only once or twice per session - that way the +2 SL benefit per session is roughly the same as you get from the Groundsman).
Ted Lasso isn't a tactics coach.
I like the idea of this but I'm not really in favour of the idea - it would take away from the poker element part of the game
Interesting Roger indeed. I wanted to find a picture of Jonathan Wilson's excellent book Inerting the Pyramid but they were all portrait orientation. So Coach reading it on the flight to the UK seemed apt.
The poker element still can be bypassed by playing OOP anyway. This gives the option of not being penalised. Also I think this idea works only if BRB are limited. Thus you have to sacrifice something else to get this bonus on flexibility of formation.
I liked this idea, but everyone else is lukewarm!
