Should All Teams T-7 CB's Bulldogs? (Session 2)
Posted by Allan Sellers on Monday, Mar. 14th, 2022 at 9:13 PM

A lot of people are saying that Craig's Bulldogs are unbeatable (yes I know its still practice games).  With the Bulldogs finishing practice session 1 at 3-0 will more people start to notice and save their 7 best for their game vs. Dallas so Craig feels challenged?

As always, I don't know who any of these people are that are talking about doing the above.  I just hear that "people are talking"...

I think we play the Bulldogs. [Checks team page]]

Have I T7'd? [Checks orders]

Wait till Saturday to see.

Ha!  Nice work there Steve!

I too just checked my schedule and notice that we match up against Mr. Bucknall and the Indomitable Bulldogs this week...

Allan Sellers on Monday, Mar. 14th, 2022 at 10:50 PM

Well what an absolute breeze this volleyball thing is.

I have no fear of anyone after winning all 3 practice games.

I suggest everyone just plays their reserves against us, don't want to embarrass your first team :)

Craig Bucknall on Wednesday, Mar. 16th, 2022 at 7:52 PM

Ha! Well done Craig.  I have already save this post for occasional usage once the real season starts...

Steve once used the word "easy" (in a non-threatening way) with Rob's team and wow was Rob motivated!

:-)

Yes, I was thinking of asking to be put in the same conference as Antioch but I like a challenge :-p

Steve Turner on Friday, Mar. 18th, 2022 at 5:33 PM

Pah!

I find your lack of faith disturbing

(anyone who needs to look up that particular film reference needs shooting by the way)

Craig Bucknall on Saturday, Mar. 19th, 2022 at 8:24 AM

Shoot me!

I see Dallas play three of the best teams in TMVL today. And I'm not sure any of us need to T7 (checks orders again...)

Steve Turner on Saturday, Mar. 19th, 2022 at 10:03 AM

Nooooo!!! Really Steve?!?!

You don't know the film reference?!

Disappointed doesn't cover it :(

I'll give you a clue....think classic sci fi film.

Craig Bucknall on Saturday, Mar. 19th, 2022 at 6:00 PM

If I had to guess I'd say Star Wars - A New Hope or Phantom Menace. But I'll Google it now.

Steve Turner on Saturday, Mar. 19th, 2022 at 8:33 PM

I LOVE the CB approach here with the positives and attitude, I think its great.  NO ONE can accuse Craig and the Bulldogs of trying to fly under the radar in this final session of the practice season (that does not count).

In fact it was just the opposite...

For Dallas, this practice session was like when Sean Connery told Sam Neil in The Hunt for Red October to "verify distance to target" with one ping.  One ping only...

At the same time, "some" managers (we won't reveal names) took note of his comments.

The Bulldogs found opposing teams with these grades this session:

A (Quincy)

A- (New Orleans)

B+ (Columbia) - was Steve even trying?  :-)

Anyway, as they say "it was not the results..." CB may have wanted but I appreciate his approach!  Well done CB!

Allan Sellers on Sunday, Mar. 20th, 2022 at 10:11 PM

I felt we didn't need to try too hard :-)

Steve Turner on Monday, Mar. 21st, 2022 at 12:40 PM

We maintained a 100% record in each separate session.

I class that as a good thing.

And Steve, I know you're just trying to keep up the morale of your faltering squad who really struggled against a complete set of novices in my Bulldogs....I asked my lads to take it easy, don't want to show my hand and embarrass the Top Dogs in a meaningless warm up...we'll save that for the season...PLEASE, PLEASE put the Bulldogs in the same division as Steve's, soon to be, squashed tomatoes :)

(And YES...it is Star Wars - A New Hope, Steve...still dismayed that you didn't know it :( )

Craig Bucknall on Monday, Mar. 21st, 2022 at 8:13 PM

Believe it or not A New Hope was one of only two films I've seen at the pictures and come out mind blown.

Steve Turner on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 10:36 AM

Is that ever, Steve? (re: 2 films at the pictures?)

Obviously I need to know the other please :)

I grew up with Star Wars so pretty much know all the lines in A New Hope which, thinking about it, is probably my favourite Star Wars film.

I need to watch it again soon.

Craig Bucknall on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 10:54 AM

I haven't seen many films at the pictures. Star Wars was the first time I came out thinking "Wow! Wasn't that great!" (There were more expletives in my mind) .Unfortunately my family don't like Star Wars so am waiting for Jacob to grow up a bit to watch it again.

The other was Fellowship of the Ring. Return of the King was better, Eye of Sauron notwithstanding, but I'd seen it all before lol.

Steve Turner on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 12:48 PM

The Lord of the Rings films were some of the only ones where I felt the films were an almost exact copy of the picture I'd built in my head when reading the books.

That's probably because of the level of detail in the books!

Craig Bucknall on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 7:29 PM

I tried reading Lord of the Rings twice. Got through Fellowship and stalled on the first part of Two Towers. Tried again a couple of years later and this time tried reading the second half of Two Towers before the first. Stalled again.

Then after seeing Fellowship I sailed through all of the books, perhaps because I could see and hear the characters.

Steve Turner on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 9:07 PM

I was determined to finish the books before the films came out so that was the motivation.

I will admit to only scan reading the bits where they start singing lol

Great books if you have time to burn, a comfy chair and a bucket of tea :) (and preferably able to hear the rain...perhaps in a conservatory...which we don't have...but I would think it'd be very nice haha)

Craig Bucknall on Tuesday, Mar. 22nd, 2022 at 10:24 PM

Nothing to do with TMVL but I've just been on the SESL site. Now I haven't gave it my all this season as I've put most of my time here so didn't even know how Div 1 was going.

All I can say is "Wow!". I really hope you pull it off, Craig, and look forward to you getting to grips with TMVL soon.

Steve Turner on Thursday, Mar. 24th, 2022 at 12:59 PM

Haha! I know it's a meaningless game at the end of the day BUT....I can't stop thinking about it! I'd love to be a ref in SESL lol......but actually Steve, you could help us out a bit....I'll happily part with a, ahem, 'brown envelope' if you could beat MOT on Saturday please :)

Thanks though Steve - my last 4 games are pretty savage and it's really not impossible for us to lose the lot.

I have everything crossed.

Craig Bucknall on Thursday, Mar. 24th, 2022 at 10:14 PM

I wish we could beat MOT but I'm manager of Alloa - mid table Division 3.

A few seasons ago we were leading Division 1 (Deveronvale) with 4 to go - had some awful luck in those 4 games...

T11 all the way and hopre fpr the best - you have a big lead.

Steve Turner on Friday, Mar. 25th, 2022 at 12:40 AM

Oh yes!! lol...forgot you changed clubs, sorry! I always associated you with DEV
