A Chastening experience? (Pre-Season Auction A)
Posted by Roger Mendonça on Friday, Apr. 24th, 2026 at 8:32 AM

Walking in the door at Chasetown, you don't quite the sense of faded glory - just faded.  Nearly forty seasons since their only trophy and with only 4 seasons of top flight football in their entire history - and that over thirty seasons ago, this isn't a club that screams of potential.

The T11 stats suggest the current team are strong candidates for relegation, the T16 stats suggest that's an odds on certainty.  The only glimmer of hope is that their current T11 is better than Shepshed, and Alon is probably going to win the league with that, so maybe Chasetown can pull off a miracle and not only survive but get in the promotion mix too?  I won't be betting on it but stranger things have happened.

Readers Comments

Chasetown's Player Value Sum is much higher than that of the current champions.

AND they are much younger than the has-beens of WEL.

So: no need to sandbag - for CHA

I've never considered player value before.  Is that Welling's secret?

I love this dialog(ue)...

My reading comprehension is not great but shouldn't this topic be renamed to "Chasetown - Are they the favo(u)rites to win the Treble?"...and I don't know what the word "treble" means...

Who gave Roger a team in my division?

Chasetown are such a sure thing they closed down the betting.

No big secret - just column #4 in team totals.

And surely Chasetown are the favourites to win the Quadruple - you forgot the Youth Cup, Al

Some has-beens are even desperately trying to make some participation money from silly comments

Eduard Habermann on Saturday, Apr. 25th, 2026 at 9:38 PM

(laughing)

Steve: It would be unethical of me to let you know that Roger said: "can I get a team that is in the same division as Steve"...totally unethical...

Also, at least when Eduard gets that sweet extra participation money he types complete sentences and doesn't just press "submit" multiple times to get it like "some people"... 😎

Allan Sellers on Sunday, Apr. 26th, 2026 at 12:24 AM

Don't worry Steve, looking at the stats I suspect we'll be two divisions apart next season
