Down, down, deeper, and down (Session 11)
Posted by Ellis Simpson on Tuesday, Dec. 18th, 2018 at 5:08 AM

Or, to put it another way, the status quo is not good...

Last session was not a disaster. It was worse than that.

The only part that conformed to reasonableness, was the league program: a loss away to Oldham and a surprising away win at Northampton Town. Unfortunately, most of the other teams in the league are doing better, regularly, and we are firmly in relegation trouble. I know who I blame - after me.

In the cup, Olmec completed the crushing of our FA Cup dreams by delivering Preston North End the victory they surely did not deserve. We were cheated out of the win at their ground, and grounded out of the competition at home. If I had a Xmas Card List, Olmec would not be on it.

But, there was worse to come. Our youth team lost out to Leeds. That makes the coming relegation battles even harder.

Yes, we are down, but hopefully not out.

This session, just how badly we are in trouble will become clear. We face Watford (6th) at home and Nottingham Forest (2nd) away. Unfortunately, we really need to win both, and I equally unfortunately really cannot see it.
