On the Edge (Session 10)
Posted by Ellis Simpson on Tuesday, May. 22nd, 2018 at 5:23 AM

A bad home loss and a surprising away win leave us level on points with two out of three in the relegation zone, but ahead on goal difference. If we can beat Sheffield, we might be OK because Chesterfield and Southend are playing one another, and Chesterfield are also playing Leeds. But survival is by no means certain.

I cannot put my finger on what has gone wrong this season. It feels like one bad result after another, though I do know we have had a couple of wins against the odds. But the overwhelming sensation is of being on the wrong end of too many close calls going against us, so to speak.

On the plus side, the team is in reasonable shape for next season (ha!) so there should not be any need for a drastic rebuild; just patience, and a slow build up of resources. There is some money in the kitty, too, which means we should eb able to hang on to our decent players. All of that having been said, would it be fun and more challenging to ditch the lot and start afresh with an across the board youth policy?
